Terms of use
Last updated 19 September 2026
These are the terms on which Tristan Crowther, trading as Stow Yachts (“we”) provides STOW to a vessel (“you”). They are short on purpose. If something here is unclear, write to hello@stowyachts.com and we will answer plainly.
What STOW is, and is not
STOW is a record-keeping and operations tool. It helps a vessel track inventory, jobs, notes, crew hours of work and rest, leave and sea service. It does not replace the official logbook, the flag state’s prescribed forms, class requirements, or the Master’s judgement. The MLC checks it performs are an aid; the Master remains responsible for compliance, and you should confirm the applicable requirements with your flag state.
Your vessel, your data
- Everything your crew record belongs to the vessel. We hold it on your instructions, as described in the privacy page.
- You can export your data whenever you ask, in an ordinary format, and take it elsewhere.
- The captain decides who on the vessel may see and change what. We do not override those permissions except to fix a fault you have asked us to fix.
Accounts and access
- Crew sign on with a code issued by the captain. You are responsible for who you issue codes to and for deactivating people who leave.
- Keep sign-in details private. Tell us at once if you think an account has been misused.
- Do not use STOW to hold information you have no right to hold, or to store anything unlawful.
Availability and support
We aim to keep STOW available at all times and it is built to keep working on a phone with no signal, catching up when the connection returns. We do not promise it will never be down. We will tell you about planned work in advance where we can, and we answer support requests by email.
Fees
STOW is priced per vessel, agreed in writing before you start. There is no charge per crew member, supplier or contractor. Either side may end the arrangement with one month’s written notice; on ending, you may export your data and we will delete it on your instruction, except records the law requires to be kept.
Liability
We take care, but STOW is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of it, from a failure to keep a statutory record that remained your responsibility, or from data you chose to enter. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we will tell you by email and in the app before the change takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction.
